In my previous perspective, I wrote a paraphrased quote from John F. Kennedy. If you will remember, the quote was, “In your hands, students, more than mine and your teachers, will rest the final success or failure of YOUR course.” This statement is not just for school and graduation, but for the rest of your life. Are you preparing yourself for success or failure for the rest of your life?
To continue with this line of thought, JFK continues in his augural speech with the famous line, “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.” And again, as your Principal of Silo, I adopt the same cadence of this statement by saying “As a Silo student, ask not what your school can do for you, but what can you do for your school.”
Are you just a TAKER, or are you GIVING back to Silo school. In the end, are you doing the right thing? Are you learning what our teachers are teaching? Are you practicing hard for your Academic Team, FFA Team, Athletic Team? Are you putting forth every effort to be a good citizen of Silo school? Will you graduate, ON TIME? Are you ready to make a great score on our End of Instruction Tests or the A.C.T. Test? You want to know how to be great citizen of not only Silo school, but Bryan County; Oklahoma; the United States; the world? GIVE BACK!
